Notable Changes From the Previous Year
The Wrangler comes in 2024 with a few subtle exterior changes. The vents in the seven-segment grille have been shortened vertically, and the previously solid ridges between the vents have been opened up to compensate for the shortened vents.
A Warn winch, which comes factory-installed and crash-tested, is a great upgrade on the Rubicon. The Rubicon also has an upgraded tow rating of 5000 pounds, thanks to a redesigned full-floating rear axle.
The Willys trim has upgraded tyres, and to boost its off-road capability, an electronic lock for the rear diff and sturdy rock rails. One of the most significant changes is the introduction of a standard 12.4-inch infotainment screen running UConnect 5 software.
Another major change is the inclusion of side-curtain airbags. These airbags have been installed under the covers that conceal the rollbars. The designers have also included a radio antenna integrated into the windshield and 10-wheel designs.
Infotainment and Technology Features
The primary feature that catches your eye when entering the Wrangler's cabin is the updated 12.3-inch touchscreen running UConnect 5 software. Delivered wirelessly, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard features. Higher-spec trims usually include navigation as a standard feature, but it can be added as an option in other trims.
Working with the navigation system is a two-year subscription to Trails Guide, which offers routes to over 200 trails. Drivers can select their favourite trails, navigate directly to them, and follow their progress using integrated maps.
The Wrangler sports improved hands-fee voice recognition technology and Alexa integration. Device charging has not been forgotten, and the cabin has seven USB Type A and C charging ports. There are also standard 12-volt outlets and a 115-volt outlet that can power home electronic appliances.
Exterior Design
The engineers at Jeep know that the basic shape of the Wrangler is not something that can easily be changed. It still harks back to its military roots and is very evocative to the Wrangler owners. For this reason, changes are very subtle and hardly noticeable. The new grille design is an example of these subtle changes.
The Wrangler can still be quickly broken down to remove doors, roof, and windscreen for a true outdoor experience. There are 10 wheel designs, ranging from 17 to 20 inches. There is also a range of tyre sizes from 32 to 35 inches. Wranglers are available in many exciting colours, including Anvil, a beautiful new grey colour.
Interior Comfort and Cargo Space
The Wrangler’s interior has plenty of premium features, modern technology and all of Jeep’s versatility and functionality. The horizontal dash, featuring new soft-touch finishes and accent stitching, flows from the driver gauge cluster to the large new infotainment screen. On top of the dash, a provision is made for attaching accessories such as cameras without using tape or adhesives.
On the top-level trims, the cabin benefits from acoustic glass, thicker carpets, and extra sound-deadening foam to reduce the ride noise in the cabin.
Performance Features
The Wrangler comes with two engine selections. A 3.6-litre Pentastar VVT V6 engine with Stop/Start technology can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or eight-speed automatic transmission. This motor makes 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can expect fuel consumption of around 13.7/9.6 L/100 km from the annual transmission and 12.8/10.4 L/100 km with the automatic.
A 2.0-litre in-line four turbocharged engine with Stop/Start technology paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This motor makes 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. With this motor, drivers can expect around 10.7/9.8 L/100 km fuel efficiency figures. The Wrangler should be able to tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
The engineers have paid special attention to the safety and security features of the 2024 Wrangler. There are over 85 passive and active safety features in the new Wrangler, including, for the first time, front and rear side curtain airbags as standard. The Wrangler now has outboard seatbelts in the rear row of seats and improved construction to limit side-impact damage.
Advanced cruise control and forward collision warning are standard for Sport S and above trims. In the higher-spec models, rear cross-traffic monitoring and blind spot monitoring are standard. A rear backup camera, traction control and electronic stability control are standard across the range.
Refreshed but Still the Industry Standard for Off-Roaders
The engineers at Jeep have built on the solid Wrangler foundation and made this highly capable off-roader a little bit better. The Wrangler evolves slowly, and the 2024 version is the best yet. The friendly staff at Diamond Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are waiting to show you this fantastic vehicle and treat you to a test drive today!
