The 2026 Ram 1500 continues to prove that a full-size pickup truck can deliver impressive speed and performance without sacrificing capability. While the Ram 1500 is best known for its towing strength, payload capacity, and comfort, the latest model offers acceleration figures that rival many performance-oriented SUVs and sports sedans.
A major contributor to the truck’s impressive speed comes from the available 3.0-litre Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline-six engine lineup. The standard-output Hurricane engine produces up to 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque, while the high-output version generates an impressive 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. These figures make the 2026 Ram 1500 one of the most powerful trucks in its class.
Drivers looking for maximum acceleration will appreciate the available High-Output Hurricane engine, which delivers strong low-end torque and rapid power delivery. Independent testing has shown that high-output Hurricane-equipped Ram 1500 models can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under five seconds, placing them among the quickest production pickup trucks available today.
For performance enthusiasts, the 2026 Ram 1500 RHO takes speed even further. Designed as Ram’s off-road performance truck, the RHO produces 540 horsepower and can reach 60 mph in approximately 4.6 seconds. It also boasts a top speed of 118 mph, demonstrating that the Ram 1500 platform is capable of far more than hauling cargo and towing trailers.
Even with the return of the legendary 5.7-litre HEMI V8 for 2026, speed remains a priority throughout the lineup. The HEMI delivers 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, providing strong acceleration and the unmistakable V8 sound that many truck enthusiasts love.
What makes the 2026 Ram 1500 unique is its ability to combine performance with everyday usability. Whether equipped with the efficient Pentastar V6, the returning HEMI V8, or the powerful Hurricane engines, the truck offers confident highway passing, strong merging capability, and effortless acceleration when carrying passengers, cargo, or towing a trailer.
For Canadian drivers seeking a truck that delivers both work-ready capability and exciting performance, the 2026 Ram 1500 offers some of the fastest and most powerful options ever available in a Ram pickup.
